* Do you or anyone in your immediate family own a dog, cat, ferret, etc.?
Yes, I own several dogs, Goat and Sheep. Members of my family own animals, and my
sister breeds Akita's and shows them as well. I use to breed Akita's and showed them in
the ring. I also, exhibited Akita dog in the Westminster Dog Show in NYC.
* Do you or anyone in your immediate family hunt, with or without a dog?
My Uncle hunts with and without dogs depending on the season and game. I do not hunt
personally, but support those who do including my family, friends and co-workers that
hunt.
* Do you support any animal rescue organizations or shelters?
As part of my responsibility as Sheriff I do operate animal control and shelter. I do not
support groups i.e. PETA, HSUS, or any group which seeks to restrict ownership, and
places unfair laws on ownership and the useful utilization of animals.
* Do you philosophically support any animal rights or animal protection organizations? If
so,please identify the organizations.
I believe that animals have a use for companionship, work, maintaining the balance within
nature by aiding in hunting, for food, etc.. Which are contrary to the philosophy of animal
rights groups.
* Do any animal rights or animal protection organizations endorse you as a candidate or
financially support your campaign?
NO!
* Should Spaying or Neutering of an animal be controlled by the government through
legislation or should it be left between a veterinarian and their client to decide?
Left between client and Veterinarian to decide, but it does have health benefits.
* Do you believe that animal owners should have their status as owners changed to the
status of guardians? As a guardian you do not own your animals, you are strictly a
caretaker?
NO!
* Do you support the states' prerogatives to manage their resident wildlife populations
and establish local hunting regulations, without federal interference?
I am a firm believer in State Rights, and I believe that the states should regulate what is in
the best interest for the state, its>environment and its citizens.
* Do you believe in peoples rights to own (responsibly) any animal of their choice,
regardless of species: exotic or domestic?
With the word responsibly underlined, also depends on the living situation and the
animal, i.e. if a person has a one-room apartment 850 sq feet, should not own an elephant

What is your position on the following animal and/or hunting related issues?
a) Hunting, including the use of dogs
Hunting, including the use of dogs: The bond between man and dog in hunting goes back
thousands of years. There is nothing like the>dog and its owner working as a team. As a
Police K-9 trainer I see this partnership develop and mature, it is satisfying to see. I
believe in hunting and a person's right to do so. My friends and co-workers hunt and I
support them.
b) Fishing
I believe that Hunting, Fishing is beneficial to our environment, and it puts food on the
table.
c) Animal medical research
Only as a last resort if nothing else will accomplish the results needed. Also, animal
research is used to benefit animals. Animal food companies do research to discover the
best diets for animals. Drug companies also do research to see which drugs works best
in the animals they treat. Research is done to discover they best way to medically treat
injured or sick animals.
I do not believe in torture or cruelty to animals.
d) Animal ownership and breeding (including pet & livestock breeding, research animals,
circuses and rodeos)
I believe in ownership for the stated reasons, with the caveat, I do not believe in torture
or cruelty to animals.
