TIM HAGAN - Clark County Commission E
* Do you or anyone in your immediate family own a dog, cat, ferret, etc.?

None in my household. I am allergic to cats.

* Do you or anyone in your immediate family hunt, with or without a dog?

No, I have not hunted or fished since I was a boy. My father enjoyed hunting.

* Do you support any animal rescue organizations or shelters?

No.

* Do you philosophically support any animal rights or animal protection organizations? If
so,please identify the organizations.

I oppose unnecessary cruelty to animals, but some organizations, such as PETA, are too
extreme.

* Do any animal rights or animal protection organizations endorse you as a candidate or
financially support your campaign?

I have not requested their endorsements.

* Should Spaying or Neutering of an animal be controlled by the government through
legislation or should it be left between a veterinarian and their client to decide?

The government should not be involved.

* Do you believe that animal owners should have their status as owners changed to the
status of guardians? As a guardian you do not own your animals, you are strictly a
caretaker?

People have control and possession of their pets, so they are the animal's owner.

* Do you support the states' prerogatives to manage their resident wildlife populations
and establish local hunting regulations, without federal interference?

Yes. Wildlife management and hunting have nothing to do with interstate commerce nor
the other powers granted to the federal government.

* Do you believe in peoples rights to own (responsibly) any animal of their choice,
regardless of species: exotic or domestic?

As long as they respect the rights of others. I would not want my neighbors to have a
skunk farm if the smell drifted to my yard.

* Do you believe it is okay to discriminate against exotic animal owners through unfair
bans?

No

What is your position on the following animal and/or hunting related issues?

a) Hunting, including the use

Hunting, including the use of dogs>Hunting is a useful wildlife management tool to
prevent animals from dying of starvation. Some dog breeds were bred for hunting and
have a natural instinct to hunt. As a child, we had an English pointer who would point any
butterfly coming into the yard.

b) Fishing

Fishing, like hunting, is a sport enjoyed by many.

c) Animal medical research

Animal medical research has saved human lives and health. It should be done as
humanely as reasonably possible.

d) Animal ownership and breeding (including pet & livestock breeding, research animals,
circuses and rodeos)

These are issues to be decided by the animal's owner and not by the government.
