* Do you or anyone in your immediate family own a dog, cat, ferret, etc.?
I currently own two German Wirehaired Pointers, Greta (14) and Vande (4). I have had one
Chocolate Lab (Gretchen) and two other Wirehairs (Heidi and Hannah). My daughter has
two dogs, a Lab and a Wirehair and my son has a Lab mix. All of my dogs have been
hunters. I am also a Life Member of the NRA.
* Do you or anyone in your immediate family hunt, with or without a dog?
I hunt with Greta and Vande. I am a Nevada native and I have hunted all my life. I have an
elk in the Nevada Record Book, and my son has an antelope in that book. I have hunted
everything in Nevada I could get a tag for, and all types of birds.
* Do you support any animal rescue organizations or shelters?
I volunteer with the Nevada Humane Society which supports hunting. It is not the
anti-hunting Humane Society of the United States, which I do not support.
* Do you philosophically support any animal rights or animal protection organizations? If
so,please identify the organizations.
I support our society's no-kill policy and its efforts to spay and neuter. Adoption of these
cats and dogs is preferred.
* Do any animal rights or animal protection organizations endorse you as a candidate or
financially support your campaign?
No
* Should Spaying or Neutering of an animal be controlled by the government through
legislation or should it be left between a veterinarian and their client to decide?
It should be a choice of the owner.
* Do you believe that animal owners should have their status as owners changed to the
status of guardians? As a guardian you do not own your animals, you are strictly a
caretaker?
Owners, period. While I love animals, guardian is going way too far.
* Do you support the states' prerogatives to manage their resident wildlife populations
and establish local hunting regulations, without federal interference?
Yes.
* Do you believe in peoples rights to own (responsibly) any animal of their choice,
regardless of species: exotic or domestic?
Anything that is not a danger to others is fine with me.
* Do you believe it is okay to discriminate against exotic animal owners through unfair
bans?
No
What is your position on the following animal and/or hunting related issues?
a) Hunting, including the use
Hunting, including the use of dogs See above. I hunt with dogs.
b) Fishing
I fish when there is nothing to hunt. I am not very good at it but it is fun.
c) Animal medical research
I support it as human life is paramount.
d) Animal ownership and breeding (including pet & livestock breeding, research animals,
circuses and rodeos)
I have no problem with any of it. I grew up in Fallon and attended many rodeos and rode
many horses. Many friends are ranchers.
