* Do you or anyone in your immediate family own a dog, cat, ferret, etc.?
My family owns a dog.
* Do you or anyone in your immediate family hunt, with or without a dog?
No one in my family hunts with a dog.
* Do you support any animal rescue organizations or shelters?
I support animal rescue organizations and shelters, and believe they are a positive
aspect.
* Do you philosophically support any animal rights or animal protection organizations? If
so,please identify the organizations.
I support the position of animal rights organizations, but I have not had the opportunity to
explore the philosophical stance of these organizations and so it would not be genuine of
me to identify any organizations at this time.
* Do any animal rights or animal protection organizations endorse you as a candidate or
financially support your campaign?
Not yet.
* Should Spaying or Neutering of an animal be controlled by the government through
legislation or should it be left between a veterinarian and their client to decide?
I think that government should not legislate if an animal should be spaded or neutered.
That is a personal decision that should be left up to the owner and the veterinarian.
* Do you believe that animal owners should have their status as owners changed to the
status of guardians? As a guardian you do not own your animals, you are strictly a
caretaker?
I can see the validity of such a change, but I think that it depends on a change in our
understanding of the role of dogs and cats in the family. If we believe that they are more
than pets but members of the family, then the status should change.
* Do you support the states' prerogatives to manage their resident wildlife populations
and establish local hunting regulations, without federal interference?
Yes.
* Do you believe in peoples rights to own (responsibly) any animal of their choice,
regardless of species: exotic or domestic?
Yes.
* Do you believe it is okay to discriminate against exotic animal owners through unfair
bans?
No.
What is your position on the following animal and/or hunting related issues?
a) Hunting, including the use of dogs
It is my position that people engaged in this activity should have to attend a safety class
and obtain a license.
b) Fishing
It is my position that people engaged in this activity should have to attend a safety class
and obtain a license.
c) Animal medical research
I have not researched this issue enough to make an informed opinion on the matter.
d) Animal ownership and breeding (including pet & livestock breeding, research animals,
circuses and rodeos)
I think that as owners or guardians we need to be responsible caretakers.
