* Do you or anyone in your immediate family own a dog, cat, ferret, etc?
A) Yes, a Jack Russell.
* Is your animal spayed or neutered?
A) Yes, neutered.
* Do you support any animal rescue organizations or shelters?
A) Nevada Humane Society
* Do you or anyone in your immediate family hunt, with or without a dog?
A) Yes, mainly waterfowl.
* Do you philosophically support any animal rights or animal protection organizations? If so, please identify the
organizations.
A) Yes, I philosophically support animal rights and animal protection organizations. I also support the creation
and maintaining of environments that help wildlife to survive and thrive. I am a Committee Member of the
Sparks Chapter of Ducks Unlimited which is the leader in creating and maintaining wetlands in the United States,
Canada and Mexico..
* Do any animal rights or animal protection organizations endorse you as a candidate or financially support your campaign?
A) No.
* Should Spaying or Neutering of an animal be controlled by the government through legislation or should it be left between
a veterinarian and their client to decide?
A) This should be a private, non-governmental decision with emphasis placed upon the health and welfare of the
animal.
* Do you believe in ownership of your animal or “guardianship” where you do not own the animals – you are strictly a
caretaker?
A) This question is somewhat confusing. If the issue is whether "guardianship" of an animal is appropriate in the
same sense that a court would handle a guardianship, then I would agree because a guardian is legally charged
with the protection of and providing for the needs of their ward.
* Do you support the states' prerogatives to manage their resident wildlife populations and establish local hunting
regulations, without federal interference?
A) Yes, for purely local species. However, for migratory birds and animals, the current federal system of
management, while somewhat burdensome with its annual reporting requirements, does seem to work.
. * Do you believe in peoples rights to own (responsibly) any animal of their choice, regardless of species: exotic or
domestic?
A) For the most part I would agree. However, the larger and potentially dangerous "Exotic" animals are
oftentimes abused or exploited by their "responsible" owners and can create a health and safety risk to the
community. In this regard, I believe that certain regulations aimed at protecting the animal and the community
is appropriate.
* Do you believe it is okay to discriminate against exotic animal owners through unfair bans?
A) The term "Unfair" is a subjective term and can be applied to speed zones when someone gets a ticket. There is
often hysteria associated with some exotic animals such as large cats (lions, tigers, etc.)that may lead to an
overreaction by the community leading to "unfair" laws. However, by its' very definition, an exotic animal is one
that is different and not typical to the community and will probably be the subject of closer scrutiny when it
comes to regulations.
* What is your position on the following animal and/or hunting related issues?
a)Hunting, including the use of hunting dogs
A) I support hunting with well trained and responsible sporting dogs.
b) Fishing
A) Once they learn to bait a hook, otherwise they just seem to get in the way.
c) Animal medical research
A) Yes, I support animal research.
d) Animal ownership and breeding (including pets, livestock, research animal’s)
A) Ownership and breeding yes. However, I do not support the wholesale destruction or research uses on animals
that are no longer able to perform such as greyhounds.
