A) We own a dog and a rabbit.
* Is your animal spayed or neutered?
A) Dog is spayed, by our choice.
* Do you support any animal rescue organizations or shelters?
A) No
* Do you or anyone in your immediate family hunt, with or without a dog?
A) I consider myself a hunter, although I haven't been in many years. My older
children have their hunter's safety cards. I am a life member of the NRA and
was endorsed by and received a campaign contribution from them in my last
political race. I also belonged to other hunting support groups in Nevada
* Do you philosophically support any animal rights or animal protection organizations?
If so, please identify the organizations.
A) No
Do any animal rights or animal protection organizations endorse you as a candidate or
financially support your campaign?
A) No
* Should Spaying or Neutering of an animal be controlled by the government through
legislation or should it be left between a veterinarian and their client to decide?
A) Between a veterinarian and client if the animal is owned. If they are picked
up as strays and the owner can't be found then maybe spay or neuter before
adopting out.
* Do you believe in ownership of your animal or "guardianship where you do not own
your animals - you are strictly a caretaker?
A) We own a dog and a rabbit.
* Do you support the states' prerogatives to manage their resident wildlife populations
and establish local hunting regulations, without federal interference?
A) I believe in states rights.
* Do you believe in peoples rights to own (responsibly) any animal of their choice,
regardless of species: exotic or domestic?
A) Yes. When I served on the Enterprise Town Board people would come and
resent exotic animals to keep at their homes (lions, tigers, etc.) I was
generally supportive as long as the animal would be properly cared for and
caged to protect the neighbors.
Do you believe it is okay to discriminate against exotic animal owners through unfair
bans?
A) See prior answer.
What is your position on the following animal and/or hunting related issues?
a) Hunting, including the use of hunting dogs
A) Be safe, responsible and enjoy it. I was raised in Alabama and hunted and
fished with my brother. He had two Bluetick Hounds (Dan and Little Ann just
like in the movie "Where the Red Fern Grows").
b) Fishing
A) When I had time I use to go fishing on the Kern River in California with my
Father-in-law Tom. My brother Mike and I use to set trot lines on a river o catch
catfish.
c) Animal medical research
A) We must be good stewards of what has been given to us. I don't believe in
intentionally abusing any animal but all things were placed here for our use.
d) Animal ownership and breeding (including pets, livestock, research animals
I have raised dogs in the past. My son has raised pigs in 4H.
